To scope or not to scope...that is the question

Ladies, I need your thoughts on something...when I first started this journey with Dr. A he thought there was a chance I have some endometriosis in there. At the time, he thought it was mild enough that surgery was not necessary. After the way I was feeling last week, I decided to email Dr. A to see what he thought about my having the surgery before the end of the year. I believe, that because I've met my deductible for the year, the costs would be minimal. So, Dr. A said it wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and do it...they would put me on the birth control again and schedule the procedure. So, now my question for you...am I nuts for considering surgery before the holidays? If you have had laparoscopic surgery, what is the recovery like? Any thoughts/advice are welcome!

  1. I am going through the exact same thing. I think I am waiting until after the holidays though. My last Lap recovery time seemed pretty quick. Mainly soreness. I think that you should do it, can't see how it would hurt anything and you might get some more answers.

  2. I've never had lap, so I'm useless with advice there. But if there are no repercussions, perhaps it is a good idea. I would trust your RE if he says it is safe and not a bad idea,

  3. I had a couple a long, long time ago.. From what I remember, it wasn't that bad. You're sore for a week - I'd rather get that done than a root canal near the holidays (which I have stupidly done before).

I should tell you something weird my RE told me about laps/IVF though.. message me if you want. Otherwise I'd say if doc says it's a good idea and you're on board, why not?

  5. I think it's a good idea if it works out financially. It's nice to have all bases covered. I was supposed to get mine done near the holidays but the hospital screwed up so I never had one done.

  6. I just had it. Honestly, if it wasnt for my bizaro reaction to the glue, I would have been fine. I would reccomend it. My diagnostic tests before the first lap/hys revealed one small polyp. However once she went in, she told me that I would have never had children without the surgery. So basically there can be things going on that are not seen via the sono tests. My second sono... a year later the same thing, crystal clear. However lap/hys surgery revealed that I had more polyps. It requires about 5 days off of work to heal. I think it's worth it, especially when dealing with all of this. Also, they say you are most fertile after this surgery. Feel free to email me. Good luck whatever you decide.
