(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

REALLY wish I was here:

Instead of here:

We had some unbelievable rain on Saturday here in San Antonio...I am guessing you might have seen the news about the flooding. Thankfully, our house was just fine, but our office did not fare as well. We ended up with about 2 inches of rain on the first floor. As a result, I am sitting at my desk with blowers and dehumidifiers all around me. The noise is driving me bonkers! J is convinced I shouldn't be here because of the baby. I did email Dr. W yesterday and did not hear back from her yet. I am guessing I am okay. Just really would rather be in Belize. :)

Heartbroken for a friend

While we were in Belize we found out that one of our favorite people at the hotel was expecting a boy in June. Then after being there for a day or two we found out that his girlfriend delivered early. The baby was doing well for being 5 weeks early. (We later learned that they had a scare 2-3 weeks earlier and were really happy they made it another few weeks before baby boy made his entrance into the world.)

Yesterday, I was reading some of the local newspapers from Ambergris Caye online and saw an article about how 12 newborns had passed away at the government hospital in only 20 days. I was praying that our friend's baby was not one of them. I emailed the hotel manager to inquire about the baby and found out this morning that he passed away on Friday night. He contracted a virus that caused him to have 2 heart attacks. I am absolutely heartbroken. I am also very angry...there is a chance it was caused by a hospital based infection, which means it was likely carried by careless hospital staff.

Just this weekend we were out buying gifts for our friend's baby and had every intention of getting them into the mail before the weekend. We were hoping to pick him up a TX onesie or t-shirt first.

I am not sure how to end this post, expect to ask you to please keep our friend in your thoughts.

One year later...

I can't believe I've had this blog for a full year now. I can't thank y'all enough for being with me through the ups and the downs. If you had told me a year ago what the year would bring I am pretty sure I would not have believed you. 2 rounds of IVF, 2 surgeries, 1 IUI (thanks to failed IVF), 1 miscarriage and save the best for last...1 spontaneous pregnancy.

I am so very grateful for this community and the support I have received...I am not sure how I would have made it through the roller coaster ride last year brought without you!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

I am sure you are not surprised it's more pictures of Belize. :)

The plane we took from the Municipal Airport back to San Pedro.

Traditional Belizean meal...stewed chicken, rice & beans, cole slaw and plantains...SO yummy!!

Funny Stories to Share

I have a few funny stories to share with you from our trip to Belize. They are pregnancy related, so please feel free to skip.

When we talked about having a gender reveal party while we were away I knew I wanted to have cupcakes that would tell us the gender. So on our first full day in San Pedro we went out to look for a bakery...we stopped at the first one we saw. I really tried to get J to look for more, but he said we'll just go in and talk to them. That did not go as planned...we ended up agreeing to buying cupcakes from them as they could do it that day. We explained what we wanted and after a bit more explaining it seemed that were set on what should happen. Even though, the person at the shop asked if we wanted her to make some cupcakes pink and some blue so it would be a surprise. We giggled and said no thank you, just one color please. We left feeling confident that she understood what we wanted.

A couple of hours later we picked up the cupcakes and carefully carried them back to the hotel. When opening the box we tried to be careful not to look and figure out the color of the cupcakes. J picked one and I picked one...mine was pink and his was blue!! LOL Thankfully, J had the piece of paper from Dr. W with him so we could find out the real gender. :) We all had a really good laugh over it!

Sundays in San Pedro mean BBQ - we love the BBQ there - and that says a lot considering we live in TX. Our favorite breakfast spot had been recommended to us for Sunday BBQ, as it's one of the best. Let me say they did not disappoint. We had the most amazing ribs! The meat literally fell off the bones. At the end of the meal J asked our waiter the name of the chef...he said Charles. J said well, you let him know I am naming my son after him. We all had a good laugh over that one. Funny thing is, J and I have now been referring to the baby as Charlie or Charles instead of Cinco. :)

I'll be sure to post some pictures from our party and the BBQ once I can find them. :)

Back from Belize

We are back from Belize! I am not sure I am ready for the real world yet. The trip was just amazing. It was relaxing and jam-packed at the same time. We did a lot...went snorkeling 3 times, took a trip to the mainland to go to the zoo, and went exploring the island on a golf cart. We took an insane amount of pictures, and it's going to take forever to go through all of them, but I do have a few to share. :)

Junior the Jaguar...it was really tough to get a picture of him as it was hot and he was trying to find a shady spot to rest.

Spotted Eagle Ray and Southern Sting Ray from one of our snorkeling trips

 Poolside

School girls swimming once school was over for the day...who says you can't swim in your school uniform?

Sunrise on our first full day in San Pedro

J was one of the Big Winners at the Chicken Drop! They had one "big money" game and there were two winners. :)

Saved the best picture for last:

We had our gender reveal party and it's a BOY! We are both very excited.
I felt my first real kick while we were away too. :)

Hope you are all doing well...looking forward to spending part of my day getting caught  up on all of your blogs!!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Two more days and I will "Home Sweet Home" in Belize. I feel like I've been in vacation mode since last weekend when we started packing for the trip. I cannot wait to wake up to sunrises like this (although the "sunset" filter was used on this picture).

Being in Belize also means we are going to find out if Cinco is a boy or a girl!! J and I are both getting excited to find out. I am sure I'll pop in once or twice while are gone with pictures and to let you know the results. :)
