Hola from our corner of the world

I have been having a hard time with trying to figure out what type of posts I should be writing now that Cinco's weekly reports have ended. I think what I am going to try to do is just write about what is happening in our lives and how I am dealing with it. I've almost been afraid to write about the good times because I am afraid of how it will effect those still in the trenches. I don't want to offend anyone, yet it feels weird to not be telling you how things are going for us.

So now I am going to get you caught up on what's been going on in our corner of the world.

Last week I had my first appointment with Dr. W and I am so happy to report that all went well. We received the results from the Maternit.21 testing and I passed with flying colors. No trisomies to worry about. I can't even begin to describe the way I felt after receiving that news. It was like a HUGE weight was lifted off my shoulders. All day I had been extremely anxious about receiving the test results. When I told Dr. W about how anxious I had been feeling she commented that it probably explained why my BP was a bit high.

We also found out that the Maternit.21 testing revealed Cinco's gender...Dr. W asked if we wanted to know. J and I looked at each other like deer caught in someone's headlights. We asked Dr. W to write it down for us - she tucked the piece of paper into J's wallet where it has sat since Thursday. I think we are going to wait until we are on vacation in Belize next month to find out what is says. It's driving J's mom NUTS that we are not telling her. I have to admit we are having just a little too much fun with it. She told J yesterday that it's okay to kid with her but to not push it too far. :)

Dr. W was really excited to see us and told us at least 5 times in our short appointment how excited she is for us - she did say she's a bit nervous too. Which is okay, because that is just how we feel. Thankfully, she scheduled our next appointment for 2 weeks out instead of the typical month. Both J and I were a bit disappointed to find out that our next ultrasound will be happening at 20 weeks. It was pretty funny, because while we were in the room waiting we were searching for a machine and thinking maybe it would be rolled in. Oh well. We did get to hear Cinco's heartbeat and it was beating nice and strong!!

I baked cookies for work today and put them out in the kitchen this morning...

  1. Great news on the test results! You and your husband have amazing willpower. I wouldn't have even been able to wait for the doctor to write down the gender. :)

  3. I'm so happy to hear the news about the MaterniT21 test!!! What a huge relief! BTW: very impressed by your willpower. That said, I would totally be teasing my in-laws too (if she gets too crazy, remind her that there was a time when people didn't get this information until AFTER the baby was born). Hope Belize is wonderful.

  4. It's so thoughtful of you to worry about relating your changing fortunes to us, but speaking personally, it gives me hope and makes me so happy to hear your good news. I am delighted to hear the test results, you must be so relieved. And you have some willpower keeping that gender news stuck in J's wallet!
