(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

I am guessing quite a few of you are dealing with cold and snowy weather right now so I thought I'd post some Belize pics for you. :) Believe it or not, we have a chance of frozen precipitation here in San Antonio later this week...

A boy and his dogs

Happiness is a warm puppy.

Here are a few pictures of M and his puppies. :)
Sadie and M...Sadie was attempting to lick his face while laying down on M's lap.

Garnett moving in for a few kisses. (He was told "No sir!"...we strongly discourage the kisses on the face.)

M and Garnett...best buddies. :)

Today is the day

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-9El_vox729A/UkRWvSxbYCI/AAAAAAAEiws/G8Ulc6sgZiA/s0/photo.jpg

Today is the day...it's my last day at work and after work this is where we are headed! J and M will be crashing my good-bye happy hour. I am glad they will be. :) J deserves a beer and a thank you as well for working from home for the last two weeks. It has not been easy on him at all. There have been customer issues that he has had to try to deal with while there are dogs whining and a baby screaming.
I am truly looking forward to my next adventure...I am hoping that I'll be able to post a couple of times a week. Still trying to figure out what exactly to post but I am not ready to leave the blogging world yet, so you will hear from me again soon.

Monday, Monday

I probably don't need to say much at all...isn't this how we all feel about Mondays? I wish I could have joined them this morning! On the positive side it's my last Monday at my current job...full time Mommy starts on Thursday! Hope y'all survived your Monday.

Year in Review

Source:http://www.zastavki.com/eng/New_Year_wallpapers/wallpaper-47633.htm

I saw this Yearly Survey (I tried to add the link but Blogger is mad at me for not using an updated system..it doesn't like my version of IE) on Melissa's blog yesterday and decided I try it as well. (the answers will probably be pretty closely tied to my pregnancy/birth of M)  :)

YEARLY SURVEY!
1. What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before? Stayed pregnant til the end and gave birth

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?  I didn't really make any resolutions but J and I both said we wanted to be healthier in 2013 and to lose weight. I did that right up until the holiday season...getting back on track now.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No one in real life but I was extremely happy for blogger friends that were blessed to give birth.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes, we lost C, the president of J's company, who was also a family friend.

5. What countries did you visit?  Belize.

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you didn’t have in 2013? Less family drama - I don't talk about my family and probably won't go into any detail regarding the drama but if we could get though 2014 without the massive arguments that occured in 2013 I'd consider it a real gift.

7. What dates from 2013 will be etched upon your memory, and why? October 2nd is the biggest one - the day that M was born. January 21 I took an HPT and surprised J when I told him it was positive! January 22nd - first beta came back with a great number. January 25th - first u/s came back looking just right.

8. What was your biggest achievement of this year? Having a healthy pregnancy that resulted in a heathy boy

9. What was your biggest failure? Hmm...not really sure...I know there were faults/mistakes, not sure about failures

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Strained ankle when Garnett knocked me over.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Baby clothes :) Best think not baby related was J buying me the Dyson!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? J - he was amazing during all that we endured this past year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My youngest brother...family drama - enough said.

14. Where did most of your money go? Medical expenses for me and the dog!

15. What did you get really excited about? Meeting our baby boy :)

16. What song will always remind you of 2013? Push It by Salt n Pepa...not from 2013, but OMG when J played during my labor...a memory that will never fade!

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? Happier, I weigh a few less pounds than the same time last year, we have less debt but not sure that I can say we are richer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Kept in touch with friends and family

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Worried

20. How did you spend Christmas? We stayed at home in TX and loved every minute of it.

21. Did you fall in love in 2013? I did :) Fell more in love with J and fell head over heels in love with M!

22. What was your favorite TV program?  Big Bang Theory!

 23. What was the best book you read? I know I read a couple of books but nothing stands out as "the best".

24. What was your greatest musical discovery? None that I can think of

25. What did you want and get? Again...healthy pregnancy that resulted in a healthy boy. Still in awe of this considering Dr. A told us we had less than 1% chance of it happening.

26. What did you want and not get? Can't think of anything

27. What was your favorite film of 2013? I can think of only one more that we went to see and it was not anything to write home about

28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 43 - aurgh! We went out to dinner with my Mom who was visiting at the time.

29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Less drama

30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2013?  Fashion Question

31. What kept you sane? My husband and my Mom.

32. What political issue stirred you the most? I think I tuned most of it out.

33. Who did you miss? C - still can't believe he left us so quickly.

 34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013. Enjoy each and every  moment.

 35. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. You and Me together can do anything. Dave Matthews Band

Scenes from our weekend

Here are some pictures from our weekend...

M is a champ at tummy time. I really think this was a silver lining from his stay in the NICU. They were able to allow him to sleep on his tummy on day 2 because he was monitored constantly.
Here he is "reading" his favorite book...Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. One of my favorites from when I taught preschool. We've been having a lot of fun reading it together...it amazes me how it calms him down and how he looks at the different pages.

(Above) Saturday morning mat time. :) M loves his activity mat! He bats away at the fish with the rattles. There is an octopus for it as well that he loves...I've name it Blue. :) One day M's hand got stuck in the fish teether ring attached to Blue and he screamed. When I realized what I happened I asked M if Blue attacked him. I swear he was pissed at Blue for the rest of the time he was on the mat. :)

Saturday afternoon we went for a walk in the woods at the park. The weather was absolutely perfect for the walk...sunny and in the high 60s. The dogs loved getting out of the house and out for some exercise. Garnett did really well and seems to be completely back to himself after his surgery. We splurged and purchased the Bo.b stroller last weekend...it handled the trail like a champ! There was actually some rough terrain and M did not mind it at all thanks to his new ride.

So I am not exactly where to go with my blog...I don't really picture myself as a "Mommy blogger" but I also don't want to lose the connections I've made thanks to my spot in the blogging world. So if y'all have any suggestions or if there is anything you'd like to learn or hear about from me just let me know! :)

Fertility and Baby Free Friday

I thought I'd give you a baby and fertility free post today. Here's poor Garnett one day post-op. The week before Christmas he needed to go in for emergency surgery. He's always had a knack for eating things that he shouldn't but until now he's always been able to pass them on his own. That week he ate non-food items two days in a row and his system couldn't handle it. (It didn't help when on top of eating cloth items in the house he ate sticks and rocks out in the yard.) He ended up getting sick multiple times on that Wednesday and on Thursday morning J took him to the vet and just waited for our vet to arrive to the office. After x-rays and observation it was decided that surgery was necessary. So we had to transport Garnett up to the specialist. The doctor at that hospital was great. The surgery was quick and easy...the doctor called to tell us it was over before we even got home. All we did was stop for subs on the way home. The recovery period at home was about 10 days. Once the staples were removed Garnett was pretty much back to himself and was done being a couch potato. Sadie was so happy when she got her brother back!!

We bought Garnett a new bed while he had his cone on because he couldn't eat the bed with the cone. He loves the new bed! I love how he curls up on it.

Not sure if I am going to jinx myself or not but I am going to put it in writing. We are one year seizure free with Garnett!! When I pointed this out to J he did mention that we are doing that by spending about $600 a year on meds but we both said it's money well spent!! It had been so nice not worrying about him...although, I do worry still and watch for signs all the time. Thankfully the worrying has been for naught and all has been well with our boy. :)

Happy New Year! UPDATED

Here is our little man on Christmas morning...as J and I said he was the best present we could have ever asked for. I can't believe how long it's been since I've last posted. It's been a crazy but wonderful time for us. Today I am back at work, so I have time to get caught up and to blog. :) M is home with our neighbors today...our plan A and plan B for today fell apart so M is hanging out with two cute 14 years old girls this morning. He was too funny when they got to the house this morning... J and M were just finishing up a bottle and M was pitching a fit because it was burp time. I picked him up and soothed him and told him he had company when I turned him around to see the girls he stopped fussing and smiled at them. They both giggled and thought it was great. :)

Today is a big day for me...I am going to give my notice at work. I am nervous and excited about it. I need to get some time with my boss so I can tell him. J received a promotion and a raise at the end of year which is allowing us the ability to have me become a stay at home mom. I am really looking forward to being able to spend so much time with M and not sitting behind a desk trying to look busy. I am hoping to continue blogging but I must admit I am not sure what to chat about. I guess I'll just play it by ear and see where this all goes. You might even get two posts out of me today.

I look forward to getting caught up with everyone's blogs while I am in the office today. :)

*Update*
I decided to update this post rather than add another one to today...I have officially given my notice! My boss was really good about it. He was sorry that I'll be leaving but really happy that I am able to become a stay at home mom. He totally understood where I was coming from when I told him that after all we went through to get M I just couldn't have someone else taking care of him if it was possible for me to stay home.
I told one other person in the office that I gave my notice. REALLY hoping she does not say anything...I told her it was not public yet.

M did great with the babysitters today and I think I did pretty well not being the neurotic first time mom. I only sent text messages twice! One of the girls also sent me a picture...judging from the look on M's face he enjoyed his time with the girls. :)
